First of all, this is my first post in, oh 3 months. Did you miss me? Don't answer that out loud. I missed you.

Secondly, I recently replaced a knocking outer CV joint and changed my oil. On the way back from the shop where I performed the repairs I noticed that the vibration I had in 3rd gear, the one that's been there for the 3 years since I bought my Westy, is gone, and the van is FASTER. During the entire return trip, some 45 miles on the interstate, I held back to 70 mph but the van did not slow down up the hills the way it used to.

Can an old, dry CV joint rob that much power?

Chris S. '85 Westy - now with 176K miles no leaks from the heads. www.knology.net/~vw/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wolfsburg_campers
