If you're sure the distributor takes 2 vacuum lines then you have a California setup since the Federal model is a single-line unit. Part number is 039 905 205C.

There is nothing in the engine mechanicals that make it a California or Federal model. It has everything to do with what's hung on the engine: ignition system, FI (including ECU) and exhaust. The California models have electronic ignition (different coil and distributor, and ICU, and the different wiring harness that works with them), different FI components (AFM, ECU, wiring harness) and different exhaust components, most notably a catalytic converter with O2 sensor.
