Hi Friedrich --

Yes, it's such consideration that EPA requires each manufacturer to specify a unique background color for the label which they require to be applied, and specifies what information has to go on the label. http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrigerants/fittlist.html http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrigerants/macssubs.html

And Freeze 12 and Hot Shot and Chill It and every other refrigerant approved for use in automobile AC systems. Here are the currently available specs as published by the American EPA on their website. http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrigerants/fittlist.html It also gives the required label colors. Kindly note that no flammable mixture has been approved http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrigerants/macssubs.html and the reason given for certain specific disapprovals (HC-12a for example) is flammability.

Indeed...do say hi to Terry for me if you happen to see him. Perhaps he might be able to assist you with making your way through the EPA material -- it's a big website with many words on it, no doubt some of them apply to this situation.
