I occasionally see a silver lowered Carat on the road around where I live in the Blue Mountains in the Land of Oz. The van besides looking very cool, has a badge on the back with the word "Turbo" on it. Just as you are now all thinking "yea sure,he just stuck the badge on" I did too, however I tried to drag him off once,in a friendly manner to see if he was all bullsh*t, but....this thing took of like a scalded cat. My van is pretty spritely being generally unladen and with a 5sp gearbox, however I couldn't keep up with him.

I'd be worried about the gearbox handling the extra power more than the heads but I think this particular Carat may be an auto....so I guess he gets away with it...

Anyway if you wanna check out a turbo on a wasserboxer, check out the url below for our Volkswagen club...Club VeeDub Sydney Inc.

Steve Carter, our webmaster has a 2.1L waterboxer in his '72 Beetle and has more recently had it turbocharged....you should see that thing go!

To see pics and some info,go to...http://www.clubvw.org.au

...then scroll down the left side margin till you see "members cars" Click on that and look for "Steve Carter's 1972 Wasserboxer Beetle"

..all helps the visitation numbers to our site...;)

Cheers and happy Friday Steve O '92 Transporter WBX Kombi '00 Transporter Double Cab '03 Transporter Double Cab (work truck)
