Dan, When I faced this issue I assumed that the flattest surface should be mated. and used some copper gasket goop on the less flat surface and antiseize on the bolts. gary Date: Fri, 20 Jun 2003 11:13:03 -0400 From: Dan Erlandson <danoer1@ECLIPSE.NET> Subject: exhausr fasket question

To the collective wisdom of the group All of my gaskets from the headers came off with the all metal side facing the exhaust system. I thought I had read somewhere that the metal side should face the heads... of course the other side of the gasket does have a metal lip, but is not all metal. Does the orientation of the gasket make a difference??
