Jeffrey Schwaia <jeff@TSSGI.COM> said - The BTU calculator I used states that a Vanagon interior would require between 1680 and 2700 BTU's to cool, depending on number of people and appliances. So unless you're having an orgy and watching movies on your big screen, 2000 BTUs should be adequate. <snip> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jeff - You might be right, in the shade, but in the sun the vehicle's AC system has a hard time keeping up, and it's a lot more than 2000 btu. On the flip side, 2000 btu of heating wouldn't be very much. I have a 5800 btu PlatCat in my Westy, and when the temperature gets near freezing, I have to lower the top to stay reasonable. If I do much cold weather camping I will have to make some window insulation. $150 will buy you a 5000 btu AC, and a 1500 watt (~6000 btu?) electric heater. - Mike Mike Finkbiner mike_l_f@hotmail.com Perception is more real than truth, and belief turns truth into lies. - Kedar Nan _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail |
