Hi, Just went to see a 50 degree I4 conversion which had been removed from a diesel van. The engine type,age/mileage etc. are unknown because the conversion was done by a PO. As is the engine is a VW 1.8 I4 with a modified intake manifold with a weber carb on it, nicely done. The injector holes have been plugged, but look undamaged, as do a couple of other plugged ports. The head has the following labels 93 VWO H Germany 026103373G The distributor has points, there are no A/C or power steering pumps mounted. I'm embarrassed to admit that except for noting '1.8' on the block, I forgot to look around for other numbers there. If they're essential the owner is a nice guy and a fellow listee and I can bug him for them. I'm in California, so I'd have to convert back to FI. Any ideas on engine type, age and compatible fuel injection systems? Would I need to convert the distributor too? Hmmmmm.... Thanks! Sam |
