The firing order is 1-4-3-2. So, In order to adjust the valves in order, the engine must be rotated backwards to achieve 1-2-3-4. 180 crank rotation will turn the distributor 90 degrees. Hope this helps.

ok, so I've pretty much confused myself regarding the procedure for adjusting valves

Bentley says after adjusting cylinder #1 rotate crankshaft 180 o and adjust next cylinder. That puts the rotor 180 o (clockwise) from the notch.

Stan's post in the archives seems to say set #1 and rotate crnakshaft until rotor is 90 o and then set next cylinder.

Stan's directive actually makes sense...I think..

Can someone clarify this for me??
