The big problem I have found with these is NOISE. They make too much noise to be in a small space a few feet from your head. Even when they start out quiet when new they get too loud over time. In any case, 1 amp at 110 volts is about 9 amps at 12 volts plus whatever the inverter wastes from efficiency factor. The Westy fridge takes about 8 amps at 12 volts. Either will kill a battery in one night of warm weather operation. The Westy fridge more quickly because on 12 volts it does not use the temperature setting but just runs 100% of the time. This assumes that you bypass the relay so it will run with the engine off.
