This is why the STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Muffler is your best buy ! See my STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust System {http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm} website for complete details. Not only are OEM mufflers discontinued but there are a huge number of other parts for the 1.9 engined Vanagons that are NLA. I'm ordering parts on a weekly basis from VW and you'd be surprised at how many parts are NLA. It's only going to get worse and the 2.1 engined vans are next on VWs hitlist ! The Bosel muffler you mention is the most common aftermarket replacement. If it makes two years in the Canadian environment then consider yourself lucky. Only way to extend the life of that muffler is to keep it in its box. If you use your van as a daily driver all year round then two years is max.
