I'm new to the list, but I've owned my '89 Vanagon for about 3 years now. I bought it from the original owners, who actually bought it in Germany. It still have the German license plate on the front... My Skylight has sprung a leak. It looks like it's cracked, maybe from a recent hail storm. What is the best recommendation? Original parts vs. 3rd party? A much broader question: When should I consider a new or rebuilt engine? The Odometer stopped at about 161,000 miles, so it probably has 190,000 - 200,000 miles on the original 2.1 liter engine. Considering the cost of a new Eurovan camper, spending 2 or 3 grand for an engine is probably justified. The interior is great and there is only surface rust so far. If I got an engine, I would probably consider new body panels and paint, if I can find what I need.
