A couple weeks ago I asked for advice on GPS for car use. After much reading
of your excellent advice, online reading on GPS features -models, bloodshot
eyes... I didn't get the model I thought I wanted-- the Garmin StreetPilot.
Instead I went with a Magellan Meridian. It was a compromise - thought this
model would do ok for car travel (no talking tho') and be useful for
not-getting lost in the woods. These are fun little devices. I enjoy taking
the dog for a walk; backtracking from a friend home in the woods; checking
my speed (walking or driving).
I got my GPS from www.GPSExplorer.com I was trying to get the machine
quickly for a birthday and to qualify for the rebate. I checked several
online sellers, but I wanted to actually talk to someone, especially to
confirm they really had the unit and accessories in stock. I emailed several
companies, indicating I was ready to buy the next day if they could confirm
availability and price. Let me tell you I went off into never-neverland.
Eventually I heard from all the companies, but one after I actually had
received my order from GPSExplorer! One never understood what I was asking.
Dan of GPSExplorer sent me a fast reply, confirming all my questions and
requests. He told me to call them the next morning and mention his email.
Early the next morning I called but Dan wasn't in. I started to feel
concerned, but the young lady taking my info was all business. I made the
order, but was not totally settled because she wasn't able to see/confirm
the package Dan and I had organized. Noting my concern, she said when Dan
arrived they would confirmed and she would call me back. --- not by
email --- not -the order is good to go unless we call you, but "I will call
you back". I took the dogs for a walk, upon my return there was a msg from
her on my machine, confirming the order as Dan and I had agreed was being
sent that afternoon and gave me the sale number. Later checking my email
there was a msg with a copy of my sale order, tracking #, etc. Two days
later the UPS truck rolled up with my package. The order was complete, very
well packed, an enjoyable experience. I fuss about poor service and I also
loudly praise superior service. GPSExplorer gave me superior service. Give
them a fair look if you are looking for GPS equipment.
I have nothing to do with this company - no stock - no options- no
kickbacks- just very satisfied with the service.
