Air cooled engine compartments are sealed so that the cooling fan does not suck the hot under-engine air, but breathes cooler outside air. Hence, the fan is constantly sucking air in from the top, the funky air vents on our Vanagon, and spitting hot air out the bottom. There's no seal and no time for any gas to have time to accumulate. Imagine trying to light your fart in a stiff breeze, OK? ;-0 Chris S. '85 Westy www.knology.net/~vw/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wolfsburg_campers |
