Hey all, Had my van smogged the other day and it failed on the treadmill test. Here ara the results: HC CO NOx State standard 2.20gpm 60.00 gpm 2.80 gpm Inspection 1.374 gpm 15.306 gpm 3.616gpm readings FAILED My van is powered by a 2 liter audi 3A inline 4 running on vw golf digifant fuel injection from an RV engine code 1.8 l engine . It is using the stock vanagon catalytic converter. The air claener and intake are stock 2.1 wbx with the stock cold air inlet. The fuel pressure is 36psi idle and 42psi under load. It has a new Oxygen sensor , plugs and wires. I get 24 mpg on the road and the engine is smooth running. It does however have what feels light a lean stumble at throttle tip in. Idle speed and timming are set to stock RV engine specs. I am wondering if it might be running too lean causing the NOx to be high. If so would raising the fuel pressure be of any use. Also I seem to remember there being a fuel additive designed to reduce emissions to get you throuh the test. Tanks in advance for any help I can get.
