Subject: Stolen '82 Westy...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
To all Members of The List!
The unimaginable happened. My '82 westy with that yellow color got
stolen in Lynnwood, Washington State, in March.
I reported it, of course and waited for the police to have it
recovered, but nothing yet.
So, I am sending this message in a bottle to the Honorable List to
find my beloved car, home, friend and place of refuge.
The color is yellow. It is aircooled, so it has only one grill.
It has alloy wheels! I don't think that the thives would use the
same licence plate but it was "112 HGG", kind of easy to remember.
The rear left panel is a lighter color, due to an unperfect paint job.
Inside has tan front seats with armrests (an improvement from a newer
van.) No major dents or rust on it. The rear bumper still shows
signs of the burnt out engine area, in the bottom.
There is an oil temp. gauge on the dashboard toward the passenger
side. The gear shift knob is a rare woden one with the numbers under
a transparent plastic.
Otherwise there is nothing particularly individualistic
identification with it.
Probably the alloys and the rear paint job is the one that would be
visible from a distance, provided that you are looking at a westy
that has only one grill, being an aircooled one.
I have just put in a reconditioned engine and those alloy wheels on.
Well, if anyone is leading to or helping in the recovery of the van,
I would consider a $500.00 reward for that person.
I can imagine that it is used by someone who wanted it for the summer
and now is vacationing somewhere in California or only God knows
where. But having a List with so many experienced eyes, there is a
great chance that it would be sighted and reported by cell phone
immidiately and recovered soon. We spot one of these vans from miles.
And can identify them by just taking a glance at them.
So, PLEASE keep an eye on those yellow '82 Westies for me until it is
found. My kids are feeling depressed having lost a part of their
history and mortality has affected them.
Many thanks in advance for the Honorable List Members.
Regards, Zoltan
