Barry, I've often thought about driving around Lake Superior. I live in Michigan's LP, but I went to college at Michigan Tech in the Keweenaw in the UP. I've also driven in parts of Northern Ontario as a friend (fellow Vanagon owner) has a cabin in Martin River. I remember the last time I was there, his dog got confused about which Vanagon to jump into when we were getting ready to leave...

Have you driven the entire North Coast?

Thanks! - Duane

Then, go tent for a couple of nights at Wavel Bay. You will have to drive over 40km of gravel road to Lake Superior shoreline, then hike 7 k to Wavel Bay where the sand beach is simply amazing and very private. If the weather is hot, even Lake Superior is swimmable! > >In the Sault, there is the bush plane museum which is kind of cool... many fine dining spots... the old stone house is neat too. > >I remember staying at pancake bay and swimming there. The water was warm but full of fish eggs.... you couldn't see them but it felt like swimmimg in tapioca. No ill after effects 'cept an urge to swim upstream. > >Good luck > >Barry Mercer >Sudbury, Ontaro > > >
