I found this R-12 alternative the other day and will probably try it instead of the Red-Tek when the time comes to recharge my system. <http://www.heco.net/FreeZone.html>

I would read their info and the EPA links they provide before buying or installing any alternate refrigerant.

The EPA's list of acceptable refrigerant substitutes is here: <http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrigerants/lists/mvacs.html>

The EPA doesn't regulate the sale of certain refrigerants, that is left up to the local and state regulators. The EPA 's responsibility is to enforce the Clean Air Act which prohibits the installation of certain refrigerants in mobile air conditioning systems.

Free Zone currently doesn't have a dealer/installer in Florida, but are working on finding someone who has purchased the product here who would be willing to install it in my van.

Good luck,
