I just went out and looked at my '82.  It has the four metal contacts that
protrude into the tank.  I don't know if your '84 is the same, but here's
how mine is wired:

  o Thick light green wire & thin dark green wire


  o Thin yellow wire

  o Thin white wire

         o Thick black wire
