hello all....thanks for the quick reply back on the info for replacing the fuel pump......well now i have something a little moe tricky.

history....i have an 87 vanagon GL, the previous owner was rough on it and it needs some TLC...i have had it for a year and a half....during this time i have been experiencing a annoing problem....wich seems to be getting worse and worse as time goes on. the odd thing is that its not very consistant....but is becoming more frequent. while at its high idle it seems to be ok, just sitting in the parking lot warming up....but it doesnt always kick into its high idle and sometimes sits in its low side....when this happens it starts to jump around...sometimes it surges the RPMs and sometimes it reduces or almost takes the life out for a split second....while i am high in the RPMs driving i dont usually have any problems, except when driving in 4th on the freeway....but when i down shift and go to neutral sometimes the RPMs fall straight down and some times it floats down….when it falls fast it begins to jump up and down….along with the RPMs jumping the engine oil light flickers on and off…..appearently in sync with the RPM syndrom. I cant figure out if the oil light predetermines the engine problem or if the engine jumping around and droping so low causes the pressure to drop…….the erraticness of the problem and inconsistantness leads me to believe that its an electrical problem I just cant figure it out…..

parts already replaced…….ECU, AFM, idle stablizer(used), breather hose to idle stablizer, wire harness update, distributor…..

now after I replaced the distributor everything was kool….no problems thougth it was fixed…..took a week trip no worries(mostly freeway driving)

…..day before coming back in Los Angeles(stop and go) the problem showed its face once again…..

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
