Hi group,

Please help with any leads on this scenario:

I was driving around last week and the overheat light started flashing for no reason (this has never before happened)  - the heat indicator was less than half-way. After blinking for about 20 min. the van shut down and I was able to restart it and drive it home. Now, the van will shut down quite regularly after the engine temp rises to about full operating temp, without the temp light coming on though. The van must sit for several hours before it starts again, then as it heats up it dies.

I'm getting fuel. I have power into the coil, but no spark out. I have read a few variations of this behavior in the archives but was not able to derive too much from it. Any suggestions??


Also, I will most likely need a good Vanagon repair shop in the Lakewood area of Colorado. Again, if it's too far out of range (greater than say 10 miles), I'll stall and be stranded!
