If you have an inductive timing light, find the spark plug wire to No. 1 cylinder, put the inductive pick-up lead (the clamp-on) over that wire. For power, look at the back of the alternator: connect the the + lead (red clip) over the large alternator connection, as this is a direct connection to (+) positive side of the battery via the starter motor. This is a large connector, protected by a black insulator piece, with a 13mm nut on a stud. 12V are always present at this connection, with the car running or not. The black lead of the timing light goes to any good ground. like the PS pump bracket. Beware of the timing light leads not to get tangled up with the belts with the engine is running!. My understandig is that the correct timing is 5 deg. BTDC, but the problem is to find out what notch on the pulley corresponds to the famous 5 deg. Good luck and I hope I explained myself sufficiently on this subject.
