Unhook the O2 sensor and leave it unhooked until problem is cured. If possible, install voltage monitor on sensor in the meantime -- digital voltmeter, or Ken Lewis has some nice little bar-graph displays that he built for the purpose, should do beautifully and he built them to fit into a spare switch position on the panel...
