In the West (MB to BC) we have Husky and Mohawk Stations - Formerly
proudly Canadian, now owned by Li Ka-shing of HK.
Ah well.. They are still known for flying enormous Canadian flags and
It's still the only place I buy gas (10% ethanol!) or propane.
I would expect most taxi's in Eastern Canada to be propane - for years
there have been Federal clean-air rebates for commercial vehicles to
switch - Call a cab company dispatcher and I'm sure you'll get info on
local vehicle propane vendors.
As for consumption, I just camped for 2 weeks, cooked and used the gas
for the fridge and not run out. The fridge uses next to nothing (it's
really only a pilot light) and the stoves are faster and way hotter than
electric range at home. Perking coffee takes under 5 minutes for our 1
litre perk (elev btn 100 and 3000 feet).
I am looking into some way I can bring a 20lb propane tank and patch it
into the system to either refill the tank on the van or having it as an
extra. The trick I believe is in moving the liquid propane between
tanks..
Anyone ever tried this?
My wife and I are heading to the Yukon, N.W.T. and Nunavut in the latter
half of August and the extra capacity a 20lb tank would be welcome.
Also - anyone ever installed a propane space heater into a van?
Thanks and have fun,
Eric

Hi Shawn
According to what I have read so far, a full tank is good for 2 to 3
weeks with some cooking depending of the poeple. The fridge is using
about 250g of propane per full day.
Just try to go to a big RV center like "Au foyer du campeur" on
Metropolitain East. On my side, I will have also to find a place soon. I
don't even know what is the procedure to fill the tank.
Good luck
Germain
