Why not repair the damage? (not economic?) I will be replacing the entire fuel system in mine when (!) the SVX engine goes in. Here in NZ we had a bad batch of gas too... lots of car fires, and this was NOT rear-engined VWs only! The additives were eating fuel lines and seals I had a hose split under my injected 112hp 1974 Passat... only noticed it when I started smelling fuel out on the highway. Pulled over, climbed out (engine running) and found a horizontal fountain shooting out from under the car, spraying on the exhaust on the way. Could've been a mobile fireball. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin, New Zealand 64 (3) 473-8863 <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Fossil preparator Seashell, Macintosh & VW/Toyota van nut |
