Has anyone had any experiences with AVP engines? I just picked up a pristine '86 Basic Camper that had an AVP longblock installed 30K miles ago. Apparently, the engine has dropped a valve seat, I haven't pulled the head yet, but that's what the PO's mechanic told her. Anyways, I was going through the meticulous records and noticed that the engine was replaced 30K miles ago and the heads were replaced under warranty approximately 5K miles later. I have two reasons for asking: 1) if their engines are shoddy, I'll do a complete rebuild rather then just the top-end, and 2) I'm often asked about rebuilt longblocks (I won't sell longblocks, only in-house rebuilds) and although AVP is local, I don't want to steer anybody wrong. Please... I'm not looking for recommendations for longblocks, just any experiences with AVP. Thanks, Jeff |
