Actually, I've had another picture of this wreck on the wall of my shop for a couple of months, having cut it out of a magazine. According to the caption on mine, it wasn't the Vanagon that was moving - it was the plane, which clipped the top of the Vanagon (either on takeoff or landing, I forget which). The magazine also noted that this was a unique way of creating a sunroof Vanagon. :-) The picture I have has the owner sitting inside of his ex-Vanagon, looking much more bemused and much less upset than I would be had it been mine. It was taken in one of the middle eastern countries (perhaps Afghanistan if my memory serves me correctly).
