Yesterdays moving adventure.... Still got lots of loose ends to get moved. Yesterday myself and some friends load up the westy and a rented truck with 14' box. The westy gets mostly potted plants this trip. The 14 footer gets largish shop tools, drill press, band saw, metal storage cabinets, etc. I drive the loaded westy up the hill, and friends follow in the truck. I get to the top first, and start unloading. Friends show up a minute later and park behind me. Friend A jumps out and rolls up the back door of the truck and exclaims "Uh-oh". Being the curious type, I mosey on over to see what "uh-oh" means. "Friends" had done a crappy job of tying my drill press up and it had fallen over... Fallen onto a box that contained fire extinguishers and smashed one, which discharged it's powdery payload all over my tools and the inside of the u-haul truck. Sigh... what a mess. Moving sucks. Vanagon content? It's totally amazing how much stuff will fit in a westy. I managed to get our huge couch in it, and another trip took 2 large book cases And of course a metric shitload of boxes will fit in it... What a great utility vehicle. Moves large furniture or camp and cook in it... (-: Steve EJ22 -> '86 Westy "Escape Pod" |
