Hell Bug in Australia was converting WBX cases to air cooled 2.9 Liter turbo monsters about 10 years ago. I actially spoke to a guy who had a 2.6L conversion in his '56 bug. On another note, the dealer I work for had an '89 transporter come in with coolant leaks, wrong coolant as well. You can guess what we found. Exchange engine on it's way.

Ian, Glad I drive a TDI T4 sometimes.
