Hello all...

I bought a 81 westy camper back in february, and it is now leaking oil around the oil cooler oil filter area. There are some strange knocks in the engine when it is cold (cam slapping around or something i don't like to think about it much). It starts up great drives me to the beach with no problems, super fun for camping and my dog thinks the only reason I bought it was for her. So I am thinking of rebuilding the motor or finding a motor and getting this done before my gives up, I think with the above symptoms it is just a matter of time. If anybody is in SoCal that is on the list or knows of a good mechanic engine shop, or just a good resource for motors, please email me. This is my first VW so I am kinda in the dark about some things, but would love to keep my blue van cruising down the highway.

Thanks
