<SNIP> I am looking into some way I can bring a 20lb propane tank and patch it into the system to either refill the tank on the van or having it as an extra. The trick I believe is in moving the liquid propane between tanks..

Anyone ever tried this?

My wife and I are heading to the Yukon, N.W.T. and Nunavut in the latter half of August and the extra capacity a 20lb tank would be welcome.

Also - anyone ever installed a propane space heater into a van? <SNIP>

Adding an extra tank when you are parked can be done with an Extend-A-Stay T connector. It allows you to connect an external tank to your system, but will not transfer liquid propane to your Westy tank. Ask at an RV dealer for info. One bonus is that you can also connect another propane line to run a stove, lantern, etc. You will have to bend some copper lines to get it to fit.

I'm using a PlatCat vented catalytic heater in my '87. Only 5800 btus, so not enough for winter camping without adding window insulation, etc. but great for everything else. There has been a lot of discussion over the years, so check the archives for other ideas.
