whats the rule--if it aint black--take it back. the mann/mahle/VW filters (all black in color) are the only recommended filters to use. unless you purposely want to be running at lower oil pressures because your tired of your current engine. lots of reports of oil pressure issues using fliters not of the proper spec. fram is bad news for sure. for a 5 month trip--i'd pack some of the correct filters under the rear seat
