Subject: Stereo Upgrade

Getting ready for a road trip and want to upgrade me stereo in the van. I have searched the archives and have found some good information. I am thinking about installing head unit, cd changer, subwoofer, amplifier for sub and new speakers in the stock locations. Not really wanting to do any significant modification, but willing to make some changes to maximize sound quality for the investment. One of the most interesting questions discussed is where to install the sub. I am leaning towards putting the sub under the bench seat. I am looking for a good mid-end system that will cleanly cut through the van's steady drone. Interested in what fellow list members developed as solutions, amp/changer/sub placement. How did you maximize sound quality and minimize and modifications to a stock interior? Thanks for you time and effort.
