Since you must verify that the o-ring seal surface is clean, put a big pan underneith, pull the sensor, wipe the sealing area with your finger to be sure it's clean, then install the sensor. I like a thin film of silicon paste on the o=ring for easy install. If you are really fast at this you still have to purge the system. If you pre-clamp the hoses all around it will reduce the efforts, but you don't have 5 of the right type of hose clamp-off pliers, do you? Replace it, refill the system and purge the air properly.

Do confirm the temp sensor first, don't replace it on a hunch. You need an ohm meter and the Bentley for specs.
