Now that you've done the hard part ............... Run some Marvel Mystery oil (a quart) in your crank case and about 16 oz in a tank of gas and clean all that sludge and carbon from everything. (Don't overfill the crankcase). You can run this for 300 good highway miles or until your next oil change. You'll be surprised how much cooler and smoother your engine runs. There is a good possibility that your lifters will silence as well. Lifter leak down is normal on Boxer type engines. There is a hole in the side of each lifter ................. law of averages always puts one hole down when you park the van overnight.
