I don't think there is anything different in the transmissions. I used the same ones between 84, 88- 1.9 to 2.1. All my sensors connected right in the same. I got a different throttle body, manifold, manifold tubes. That's about it.

>>> Sam Scholten <undergroundboy01@YAHOO.COM> 7/11/2003 6:16:52 PM >>> I asked this question some time ago and never got a response. I doubt many folks have even THOUGHT about transplanting a 1.9 into a later bus. However, I am in a similar situation to yours.

I had an '84 several years ago and was able to get around just fine. The difference in horsepower between the two engines is only 13-- enough to make a difference, but not so much that you'll really miss it that much.

I've been hesitating to try the swap until I can find out what happens from someone else who'se done it. I understand that you can easily set up a 2.1 long block in a 1.9 application, so the inverse should be easy as well. However, I'm concerned that the 2.1 might have brackets that the 1.9 doesn't, and I'm worried that the oil pressure sensor hookup situation might not be OK. Also, what if the 2.1 fits in the 1.9 trans but not the other way around?

I'm very nervous and hesitant to say it, but maybe we can take the plunge together and compare notes?

Sam
