Subject: '87 Syncro Westy for sale....Maybe
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all,

I am in the unique position of owning a Syncro Westy and finding another Syncro Westy for sale. Poor me....

Mine is in good mechanical shape but has high miles and rust. The other one has neither.

Good exhaust: new Y, Y-to-cat pipe, and muffler Good Tranny: transplant from a younger Syncro Strong motor: Coolant tight, front main oil leak makes the engine dirty. (pulley end) Recent water pump New clutch Diff lock Electric windows and mirrors Working fridge and stove Nice interior Fresh front axles, bushings, and ball joints on pass side. Rust is on the seams, front, and where the utility hook-ups are. Miles are 308,000, but I just completed 6000 mile worth of trips between Michigan and Florida and I'd do it again after a front end alignment. It's my daily driver, so I have to keep it up.

The quandary is should I repair the body, or just sell it as is. Secondly, what should I ask?

Any guess?

I also have a '81 air cooled westy. Similar stuff. Good mechanicals, poor body and worn interior. Fresh tranny, Stroker motor with another stock one on the bench. (stroker doesn't like the FI and I can't get it to play well without going to carbs.) Will probably finish the stock motor and install it and just sell the stroker separately.

Love to hear any thoughts Mark
