Less is more. I find my 83.5 has some real charms:

Watercooled, so it has heat and defrost.

No a/c, but a giant manual sunroof, opens every time.

Bulletproof brown vinyl interior.

No power steering, windows, electric mirrors, or
doorlocks to repair.

Nine passenger seating- only available in the US in
the earlier vanagons: bring the whole team.

It just fun: the simple pleasure of driving a VW bus -
plus heat.
