I never had any problem just sliding the driver seat off and spinning the base to fully open the hinged steel cover over the #2 battery storage. If everything is properly installed the battery only needs service three times a year so this isn't much of a chore. I set up a tool to cut the welded bases out of Westy and it can be done in less than 15 minutes. It requires this tool and about three battery packs for a portable electric drill. I just wish I could find a few more sets. Pictures on request.
