The Kelly Blue Book list the retail price at $10,125. I would start there. Then you will need to find some that have actually traded at a higher price and/or currently for sale. You should also document any major work that has been done to build your case.

Dear List:

a friend asked me to post this for her. Says she's having trouble subscribing. Please respond to her, not me...George/ATL in Middletown, NY

....forwarded message follows....

Well, the sad news. Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident on Tuesday night with my beloved Westy. Can you please read the below and forward or post it to any site you deem might help? Can you also refer me to any sites to gather information? Thanks. :*((( ~~L

Help. All sympathetic VW owners.

Insurance wants to TOTAL my 91 Westfalia. They are saying NADA Value is only $8428.

Insurance company stated I need to get sufficient documentation that market value is higher so they might consider upping the value or authorizing repairing my bus. They also stated that they canvas local areas only for this information.

I explained that these vehicles are hard to come by and have a nationwide market with people flying all over the country to buy them and drive them back home.

I am looking for all the information I can get to support my claim that this vehicle is worth more than $8428 (as of June 13, 2003.)

Similar specs: 1991 Automatic, GL Camper Pwr windows, mirrors, elec door locks, alloys, 160k miles.

If you have sold or are selling a similar camper, or have recently purchased one in this range and can send me documentation, please send me supporting information as soon as possible. My greatest thanks, and I hope this information is of help to someone in a similar situation.

Thanks ever so much.
