One of the problems with DOT 5 is the way is absorbs into the seals. I learned this on my Yamaha RD400. Evidently, the 3 & 4 soak into the seals and naturally swell them. Dot 5 does not. The 3 & 4 systems are designed for this and when the 5 soaks into the seals, they shrink and you loose the system. DOT 5 is only for systems that are designed for it. Lost the front brakes on the bike after about two weeks. They came back with nothing more than a flush and refill with 4.
