I think I like the Vanagon configuration better, since it leaves more floor space open, but it does make the vehicle a bit heavy on the left side. My '75 was an awkward year because it had the split interior, like the '74, but with a sliding door. When the door was closed, the handle was in that awkward little space between the door and the refrigerator, which made it hard to open or close the door from the inside.
