I missed the original post on this one, but I *LOVE* my Syncro Westfalia Hightop - I would never be without one again. I have never had all the storage places full with a family of four - our old 'pop tops' that we had were always STUFFED and no body like camping in the rain - this weekend it was pouring down rain and we were all happy as can be inside! These tops are also warmer than the pop tops and no problem standing in these either!

My friends in Germany have the "poly-roof" which is seen as one of the better high top roofs in Germany - not as high as the Reimo or the Westfalia but still a nice roof resign. I like the Westfalia over the Reimo as it is more aerodynamic - sort of speak!

Down sides to the roof is that you get pushed around by the wind and going to Vancouver Island costs more as you are now 'over height' - my Syncro Westie is 8'9" tall!

re. Reimo High Top http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/reimovan/reimovan.htm The above pictured reimo vanagon was one that I used to own. Someone pointed out, BenT I think, that the reimo high top looked like an upside down boat. I'd just like to add that it also drove like a boat :) Good if you happen to be over 7 feet tall though......

On another topic, I just bought a used Parker rotary draw tubing bender (2" capacity) for the Vanagon racks and carriers I make. It's in New Jersey, any listees going from there to Calgary? And can take an extra 1000 lbs of cargo. Actually, does anybody have any recommendations for shipping it? It's on a 4' x 4' pallet. Trucking companies to call in NJ?
