Thanks for your responses

The release bearing was replaced about 500 miles ago, along with the new clutch.

You did remember to put the clutch release bearing in the replacement tranny didn't you? The bolts seem correctly tightened but I could not get the torque wrench on two of them (no clearance). The bracket does not appear to flex.

Sounds to me like you have a loose bolt holding the slave cylinder to the transmission..........seen this before.

> Hello, > > I have an 82 diesel westy that I just replaced the transmission in. (used from a listmember) The clutch was replaced about 500 miles ago. I have adjusted the shift linkage. The PROBLEM: at first I had no clutch pedal pressure. then I bled the clutch slave cylinder, and now I have so much pressure that the clutch pedal won't go down. What am I doing wrong. Please help! > > Chris Mugge > 82 Diesel Westy
