A decent weight-distributing hitch will go a long way towards keeping your
rear from dragging on the ground (and in the process, improve braking and
reduce sway.)  You don't see them too often on anything but travel
trailers, though.


Electric trailer brakes are superior to surge brakes if your tow vehicle
is a bit undersized.  Not only are they more effective and better in sync
with the tow vehicle brakes, you can manually activate them independent of
the tow vehicle brakes to pull a swaying trailer back into line.
