Subject: dash mounted rear view mirror?
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hey Folks,

I have a 1986 Westy and am finding that my rear view mirror view is so limited, it's almost useless.

Twice now, I have had emergency vehicles appear out of nowhere, and I didn't see them until they were within my limited rear view. I felt bad they even had to get that close to me. I usually pull over as soon as I see them coming.

My AC cabinet cuts off the top quarter of my rear view. I am left with a sloping view, up to about to 100' behind me. If I want to see straight out, and therefore further back I have to scrunch and slouch. It's a pain and not not very practical.

I use my side mirrors all the time and they do a fine job, however I am still longing for a better view out my back window.

This made me think... has anyone attempted to attach or mount a rear view mirror on their dash? While I might not be able to see the ground immediately behind me, it seems I would be able to see in straight line much further back that what I have now.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions or fotos of/about such project would be greatly appreciated. Seems easy enough to do. I am just curious if anyone else has.

Thanks, Cheers, dave
