You could cool it with a fan if you have 110 V ac.  Blow under the bus
until the engine compartment is cool.
I'd think most of the heat would be transfered via conduction not
radiation so a thin
reflective sheet wouldn't help.

its not a silly question, Tom, in fact it might help a
newbie catch some sleep those 1st nights!
i lay My head pointed towards the front to avoid the
engine bay radiation....anyone know a remedy for the
engine bay heat? better insulation?
