Passat wheels BEFORE the 1998 model year had 5 X 100mm wheels.

The later style wheels are typically ET45 which are approximately a 1/2 inch offset too far inward. The Passat wheels will also require the centerbore to be enlarged to about 2 5/8". You see the Audi and Passat alloys are typical of most modern passenger vehicles. Typical in the sense that they are hubcentric. The Vanagons and Syncros on the other hand are lugcentric.
