I think you may both be right, depending on year and model. I have seen early 2.1 Campers with A/C that had simpler wiring for the A/C than the Bentley shows. Maybe they were camper a/c kits left over from 1.9 models, I don't know.

John makes a point though that the A/C switch turns on low speed fan while the high freon pressure switch turns on medium speed. True High speed disables the A/C compressor clutch which is one reason why those in very hot climates may think the A/C does not work very well. If there is any cooling system degradation that causes the radiator to run too hot it will trigger the high temp switch more often on hot days. Then the A/C will stop blowing cold whenever the radiator high temp switch is triggered. This may be blamed on the A/C being weak but the true cause is elsewhere in the cooling system.
