Subject:      1.9 l bad ground

many posts suggest malfunctions of temperature gauge sending units. perhaps, in some cases, a faulty ground at the tempereature sending unit, due to upper thermostat housing poorly grounded to engine, is the actual cause. also, the formerly inoperative led for low coolant level may actually have been "fixed" by repairing the body to engine ground strap, rather than by the shunt, and if anyone is interested, i am going to revisit the engine compartment when the van is unloaded to check that out - project was too long ago for me to remember all the details.
