Subject: Idle problem/digitool readings
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Volks,

Problem: Van wouldn't hold idle, drops to 400 or so and sometimes dies, usually dies if AC on

Things done: Tune up, plugs, distributor cap/rotor, air filter etc. started from scratch with idle per Bentley.

results: Couldn't get a stable idle at 1000 or so. Engine would drop to 400 or so when the idle approached 1000. Idle stable at 12-1400

Put in different ECU with digitool. Ran ok with AC on or off, idle set at 12-1400.

EXCEPT misses like crazy at around 3000 in any gear.

Digitool readings:

Cold engine No AC on

Temp 1.7,7 temp 2 .67, O2 .41, AFM 1.92 Batt 13.14 Well finally got the digitool hooked up

Cold with AC on the F1 light flickers other readings the same

Hot engine:

AC on

FP light flickers, FP light on

Temp 1 .61, temp 2 .07, O2 .10-.77, AFM 1.57-1.81, Batt 12.57

AC off

FP light flickers

Temp 1 .49, Temp 2 .07, O2 .18-.67, AFM 1.84, Batt 12.88

Driving

FP light on

Any of this information mean anything to anyone?

Mike
